There are a few ways to do this, and one way is by using a password hint. You can also use a password hint if you want to change your password but don’t want to lose access to any notes you’ve password-protected.
Create a password hint to avoid losing access to password-protected notes
Using the Notes app is great, but it can be a pain when you forget your password or you need to get back into your notes after a long day at the office. One way to make sure you don’t forget your password is to create a password hint. This will enable you to unlock your Notes without having to type in the password. The best way to create a password hint is to use a device password. If you use an Apple iPhone, you can create a passcode for your Notes. This will protect your new notes while you work and lock your old ones up when you are done with them. To enable the passcode, go to Settings, tap the Notes app, and make sure the “Settings” option is selected. If you use an iPad, use the same method, but instead of tapping the “Settings” option, tap the “Password” option. After you type in your passcode, your new notes will be protected. You can then unlock your old notes with the passcode, or remove them entirely.
The best way to create a good password hint is to create a unique, complex password that consists of a combination of letters and numbers. This will provide the best security for your notes and allow you to easily retrieve your notes should you forget your password.
Unlock a note with your password or Touch ID
Using a password or Touch ID to unlock a note on your Apple iPhone is simple. You can easily set up a password to lock and unlock notes, and you can even set a password hint to make it easier to remember your password.

This is a great way to keep your important files in sync. You can also opt to have your notes sync up to the cloud, using Apple’s CloudKit, which is a great way to sync up to 100GB of data at a time.
Aside from the best UI, you’ll need to update your notes in the event that you’ve lost or stolen your password. For added security, you can set up an Apple ID password, or use your device passcode to unlock the app. To update your notes, you’ll need to go through the usual steps, as you’d expect. Of course, if you don’t have a passcode on hand, you’ll need to find a friend or relative with a password sync agent. Fortunately, you can find an app like ADSelfService Plus to do the trick for you.
Reset a forgotten Apple Notes password
Whether you have forgotten the password to your Apple Notes application on an iOS or Mac device, or have misplaced your password, you can reset it. Apple’s password reset feature is available in the Spotlight Search feature.
To change a password in Apple Notes, you need to open the Notes app and select the Preferences menu. In the Locked Notes menu, you will find the Reset Password option. Select this option and enter your Apple ID password. You will then be prompted to enter a password hint. If you enter the hint correctly, you will be able to reset your password. If you enter the hint incorrectly, you will see a message.
Unlike the typical login reset, resetting a password to Apple Notes does not delete the previous password. However, it does change the password for new notes. This means that if you have locked your notes with a password, you will need to use the password for new notes. This can prevent you from sharing your notes with others. You can then save the contents of the note to a new note. Alternatively, you can copy the contents of the note and then paste them onto a new note.
