Researchers are studying a dewormer for dogs and its close cousin, mebendazole (used to treat tapeworms), as possible treatments for hepatocellular carcinoma. The drugs stop cancerous liver tissue from growing in mice by collapsing tubulin, which is both a micro-skeleton and highway for transporting nutrients. Posts and TikTok videos claiming that the dog dewormer fenbendazole cures cancer have gained traction on social media. The Joe Tippens protocol combines fenbendazole with CBD oil and curcumin, with vitamin E as an optional addition. Prevention Joe Tippens was given three months to live after being diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer in 2016. Several different classes of anthelmintics are available to livestock producers and include the benzimidazoles, macrocyclic lactones and imidazothiazoles.
